Bio

Alison Held, M.S. is a Nutritionist and the founder of Healthful Direction, a private nutritional counseling practice. With a passion for and extensive knowledge in healthy living including but, not limited to diet and supplementation needs, Alison works closely with her clients by guiding them to a happy, vibrant way of life. Innovative counseling and educational techniques are used to create top-notch personalized wellness programs to meet the client's particular needs. As a former Director of Sales & Service Operations for a Manhattan-based internet research & advisory firm and over 10 years of business experience, Alison understands the stresses that can be experienced in and out of the work place. Most recently, Alison served as Program Specialist for the International non-profit Save the Children where she helped develop nutrition, physical activity and literacy programs for children throughout the United States. After completing field work, she co-produced a report entitled,"Nutrition and Physical Activity Field Assessment of Children in Rural America." In addition, Alison is an outdoor enthusiast enjoying sports such as running, kayaking and skiing. She is a varsity cross-country running coach and a former ski instructor for the largest single mountain ski resort in North America. Alison has her Masters of Science in Nutrition from The Nutrition Institute at the University of Bridgeport. In addition, she has received several nutrition and health certifications and accreditation and continues to participate in countless seminars across the country to keep up with current and cutting edge data, findings and best practices. Alison resides in Westport, CT where she grew-up and works with clients from NYC to Sweden and everywhere in between.
