WHAT WE DO: CANCER101 helps anyone affected by cancer, including the newly diagnosed, those with a recurrence or metastatic disease, survivors, caregivers and healthcare professionals, by empowering them to stay organized, informed, and in control of this terrifying experience. WHO WE SERVE: Our Planner is designed to help all demographics, including the underserved population. It is written in patient-friendly language and includes an explanation in eight languages of how to use the Planner. Our Planners are distributed in prominent cancer centers in all 50 states, and we are happy to announce that we will be distributing our 100,000th Planner in summer 2010. HISTORY: CANCER101 was founded in 2002 by three-time cancer survivor Monica Knoll as a resource for patients battling breast cancer. In 2010, CANCER101 expanded its resources and now offers Planners with information specific to 23 different types of cancer, with information on 6 of those cancers also available in Spanish. MOVING FORWARD: In summer 2010, CANCER101 will be launching a fully-orchestrated social media campaign that will offer non-medical tips to patients, caregivers, survivors, and healthcare professionals. We will also be launching our free online planner and smart phone application to allow patients and caregivers to access and log their essential information from virtually anywhere.
