Dear Colleagues: A warm welcome to you. I started CFA over two decades ago because architectural professionals needed an alternative to traditional hiring. I know because I was freelancing at the time. Most architects move from one firm to another for two to three year periods between graduation and 10 years of experience. Architects that avail themselves to CFA for one of those two to three year periods gain a fast-track competitive advantage over those that stay at one firm doing the same thing over and over again. In our industry we call that being "pigeonholed." Not only does working on a project basis with CFA allow architects to set their own fees and schedule, it allows the architect to choose different project types and sizes and gain exposure to a variety of firms. When the architect decides to re-enter the full-time workforce, he/she is more experienced and more marketable. In addition, many architects use CFA as a means of income between their own projects or while they attempt to start their own office. Likewise, our approach to flexible hiring is ideal for architecture and building design firms because they can capitalize on bringing in highly skilled and targeted architects on an as-needed basis, supplementing their core staff with a flexible workforce and avoiding the hiring and firing cycle associated with our industry. Many of our clients also use CFA to assist them with finding permanent employees. I am proud that we are responsible for assisting in the career development of many professionals who are now applying their enhanced skills at architecture and building design firms in New York, Boston and Chicago and throughout the country. We at CFA look forward to continuing that great tradition. Thank you for making CFA the nations leading referral registry with over 20,000 successful referrals, all thanks to you! All the Best, David
