Hi my name is Coral Zayas. I am an Elon University graduate and graduated with an International Studies degree and Latin American Studies minor. I have also completed my TESOL license from the International Teacher Training Organization in January 2009. I have studied abroad three times: London and Paris for one month respectively, and a semester in Costa Rica. My strengths are several and have been applied in several different work settings through my college and professional career. I have extensive experience as a student mentor and advisor. I have mentored American and international students through summer college prep academies, in residential life settings and as a teacher. I have teaching experience in English as a Second Language, Algebra, and Spanish. I also have experience working within multiple departments at a university. I have been an RA to over 70 students, been a peer mentor in the minority office, and helped with program development in a volunteer role through the leadership development office. I'm currently the Program Coordinator for the Northern Arizona College Resource Center, I have been able to use my program development skills, knowledge of education access, college admissions counseling to new heights with this position. I have a passion for social justice, education access, and cultural understanding.I'm interested in returning to graduate school to eventually work in international development, specially social development (education focused). My personal interests include social enterprise, citizen philanthropy, Latin American education and much more. In my free time, I'm a Citizen Philanthropist for Citizen Effect and I fundraise to build schools in rural parts of Latin America.
