Bio

JoAnn Jordan, MT-BC is the founder of Music Sparks & Musical Gems. Music Sparks is a contract music therapy service providing programs for groups of older adults; preschoolers; as well as intergenerational groups. Musical Gems is a contract music therapy service providing programs for groups and individuals looking to improve the quality of their lives using music. With over the past 25 years as a music therapist, JoAnn has developed a variety of themed music experiences for preschoolers and older adults, lead drum circles and provided music & imagery sessions to adults in a variety of settings. She has served as a presenter on “Working with Music” in May 2010 for AHEC Northwest, Drum Circles at the “Full Circle …An Aging Expo” in September 2008 and A Musical Approach to Children” for the NW Kansas Child Care Resource & Referral Agency. Prior to the creation of Music Sparks & Musical Gems, JoAnn offered preschool music classes, served as Life Enrichment Coordinator at Sterling House of Hays and as Activity Coordinator at a variety of other long term care facilities. JoAnn is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Music Therapy. She resides in Hays, KS with her husband, daughter, and dogs. She is a participant in the Hays City Band and Hays Community Choir. In her free time she enjoys gardening, home decorating, reading, & yoga.
