Auto enthusiast and professional race car driver Joseph C. Buzzetta started Competition Imports as a small service operation back in 1962. Through the years, Mr. Buzzetta added franchises to his service operation - starting with BMW in the mid 1960's and Mercedes-Benz in 1969. Today, the Competition Auto Group is now made up of 6 full-service automotive franchises: Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown, Competition BMW of Smithtown, Competition Infiniti of Smithtown, Competition Toyota of Middle Island, Competition Subaru of Smithtown, and Mercedes-Benz of Huntington. The franchises are owner operated and the company remains a family business dedicated to servicing the automotive needs of Long Island.
