Peter Robert Casey

Location: New York, NY US
Website: http://about.me/PeterRobertCasey

Peter Robert Casey is the first-ever media credentialed micro-blogger in college basketball history. Labeled a "pioneer" for altering the composition of St. John's press row, Peter's story of social media success was featured in the New York Times, and on the pages of ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated, Mashable, and AOL's Switched. Building a successful online brand goes well beyond 140 character text-based messages; recognizing this limitation, Peter has leveraged the use of various social media tools, including his popular blog, and other well known hoops media - namely ESPN The Magazine, SLAM Online, and Bounce Magazine - to share his knowledge of all things basketball-related, and the effective use of social media as a marketing and communications tool. He has advised the online marketing strategies for Blue Ribbon Sports Media Group, MyHoopsLink.com, NetScouts International, and New Heights Youth, Inc., and is an active member of the Metropolitan and United States Basketball Writing Associations, and the American Marketing Association. A student of the game, and of all things pertaining to marketing, communications, and new media, Peter's knowledge and skill set are complemented by a Master's Degree in Social-Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, and a Bachelor's in Business Economics (Magna Cum Laude) from SUNY College at Oneonta. He currently manages the marketing and communication efforts for the Student Medical Insurance Plans at Columbia University's Teachers College.
