Pamela Thorson

My husband and I have been married for nearly thirty-seven years and have five grown children and two grandchildren. We educated our children at home for twenty-four years, from 1982-2006. All five children graduated from homeschool. In the summer of 1997, our son Kevin was injured in a fall while on a teen missions' trip to Canada. He sustained a very high spinal cord injury and was paralyzed from the neck down. He was placed on a ventilator and given virtually no hope for recovery. One doctor pushed for us to pull the plug. We refused and brought Kevin back to the United States. He surprised us and the doctors by regaining much feeling and movement. Today, he moves nearly every part of his body to one extent or another, can even walk with help, is off the vent when he is awake, and has taught himself an occupation. He is still mostly disabled, however, and we are his caregivers. In the summer of 2008, we released the hardcover book, entitled Song in the Night, which chronicles the events surrounding his injury and God's work in our lives. It is our desire to share with others the comfort and grace that the Lord has so abundantly given to us.
