Bio

Bik has been a scientist and practitioner in the field of psychology for over twenty-five years. In addition to being a post-secondary instructor in psychology in such institutes as University of Toronto, Humber College and Tyndale University College, he has created workshops and training programs in stress management, assertiveness training, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), group facilitation, psychological testing, employee training and evaluation. He received his Ph.D. in educational psychology at the University of Toronto and completed his clinical internship at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. In addition to having been a member of several psychology associations in the past such as APA, CPA and AAPB, he has played an active role in promoting public protection in human services through his involvement with the Tri-Council Statement in Research Ethics, diversity management training in the Canadian Public Service Commission and the newly-established College of Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario. He is a registered healthcare member of the Insurance Bureau of Canada (AISI) and Worker Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Over the last twenty-five years, he has made original contributions to the literature in such areas as: human learning and motivation; clinical psychology; social cognition and causal thinking; criminology; social stratification; stress and pain management; diversity management; research and psychometrics; media ecology; and of course, psychological theory. In addition to his consultancy in stress management and training, he currently holds a faculty position in the Counselling Psychology Department at Yorkville University, NB, Canada.
