Up until October 2010 all laser and ipl operators have to be registered with the Care Quality Commission and pass strict professional standards. After October the CQC will no longer regulate laser and ipl devices used for non surgical treatments ie. hair removal, tattoo removal and most skin treatments. Anybody can setup a clinic using a cheap laser and untrained staff to operate potentially dangerous equipment which can burn and blind.
