Beach'n'River Rentals evolved out of creative necessity after entrepreneur Jerry and Shelly made a spontaneous purchase of a riverfront property in Foley, Al, during a cross-country RV trip. The couple --- not being fabulously wealthy--- realized they would need to do something to create a source of revenue from the property. They opened a vintage trailer nightly rental where guests could drive up with little or no gear and spend the night in one of four uniquely decorated vintage trailers set in the park-like setting just 10 minutes from the beautiful white, sandy beaches of Gulf Shores, Al. Three major hurricanes blew that business away. The owners faced a business setback and realized they new they must find a creative solution to the situation to recover losses. "With so many hurricane ravished beachfront homes asking for removal, maybe we can pay to have a home moved onto our property to restore into a weekly, vacation rental?" they asked themselves. To make a very long story short, the owners spent two years renovating a beach-shack home into what is now Beach'n'River Weekly Vacation Rental Home and Kayak Rentals. Visitors to the Gulf Shores area now have a unique "off the beaten path" type waterfront home to rent during their visit for less than what what they would pay to rent a hotel or motel in the area. Locals and visitors can experience a one-of-a kind adventure and float the calm, fresh, spring-fed waters of the Bon Secour River from the on-site launch available across the creek from the home. The owners never intended to begin a new life after age 50 as owners of a vacation rental home and kayak rental service. They creatively chose to re-invent themselves as entrepreneurs after a series of misfortunes created an overwhelming need to earn a living.
