Currently, I am a second semester junior at the University of Connecticut at the Stamford Campus. With graduation near, I have many exciting plans in mind for my future. At the moment, I am looking to start up an education program and/or my own organization devoted to service and education which I hope to expand internationally. Some short term goals I have are to join either Peace Corps or Ameri Corps. Service is a great passion in my life and I feel that not only me but every single person is capable of making a change in someone less fortunate than them. With the proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” in mind I want to continue dedicating my life to service and make a change not only in myself but within others. If I am able to participate with Peace Corps, I would like to do my masters through their Master’s International Program at UC Davis or somewhere on the West Coast. Teaching English abroad in Asia, specifically, South Korea, is something I hope to do as well. I am interested in Asian culture and have had experience through Johnson and Wales' International Club. In this club, American students were paired with international students and were conversation buddies for a semester. As conversation buddies, topics of conversation were mainly about cultural norms and language. This experience was definitely an unforgettable experience in which I made lifetime friendships in. If I had the means, I would love to travel to places like the Philippines, Japan, Middle Africa and Western (rural) China to teach conservation, English, and self-sustainability. Hopefully, with all my experience and knowledge I hope to achieve my long term goal of starting my own international orphanage based in Asia.
