Hoot Ratings was hatched with the vision to make radical improvements to customer feedback. With the simple idea of creating a better way to communicate, our mission is to become the trusted partner of consumers and business owners for the private exchange of customer feedback. Starting in 2004, we began to notice how the influence of mass merchandisers and discounters, both online and brick-and-mortar, where impacting customer service. The pricing pressure from discounters put stress on other traditional retailers to reduce costs wherever possible to maintain profit margins. This led to a cut in employee benefits, training costs and wages in an effort to maintain margins. These changes resulted in poor moral, high turnover and bad attitudes becoming commonplace for employees in retail outlets and service industries. As a result, consumers (like us) were regularly faced with receiving bad service when spending our money. We knew business owners (also like us) were pressed to find low cost ways to improve customer service and that limited options were available that would have an immediate positive impact for customers and business owners. We noted that the ability for a customer to provide simple feedback, without any confrontation or conflict, would be a benefit for both the consumer and the business owner. There was an unmet need in the market to facilitate this conversation. After working through several iterations of the business, Hoot Ratings was hatched.
