Katherine Cole is a wine columnist for The Oregonian newspaper and MIX magazine. Her areas of expertise include biodynamic viticulture and winemaking; the wines of Oregon; and the Willamette Valley, America's pinot noir country. Katherine lives in northeast Portland with her husband, Pete, who is president of Gamblin Artists Colors, an artisanal producer of oil paints for artists. They have two daughters, Cece and Bitsy, and a German shorthaired pointer. When they aren't at home drinking wine, the Coles are cycling around Portland on their Dutch bikes or else off somewhere in the Pacific Northwest fly fishing, crabbing, upland bird hunting or backcountry skiing.
