Melanie Votaw is a full-time freelance writer, editor/book doctor, publishing industry consultant, photographer, and speaker in New York City. She is the author or ghostwriter of more than 11 commercially published non-fiction books on a variety of subjects that are currently (or soon to be) sold in bookstores worldwide. Her areas of expertise are diverse, including medical/health subjects (especially nutrition, dentistry, dermatology, and cosmetic surgery), popular business, travel, sexuality, lifestyle, luxury, women's issues, new age/spirituality, law, green/eco subjects, art/theater/music/dance/film, and nature/wildlife. Her work includes design and project management – taking book ideas from concept to publication. She also writes articles on numerous subjects, based in part on her experiences as a medical writer, travel writer, speech writer, former professional actress/singer/dancer, meditation teacher, speaker, and paralegal. She has written articles for such national and international publications as Woman's Day, Travel Savvy, South China Morning Post, His & Hers, YourTango, and Medical Economics. Melanie ghostwrote a business book published in 2008 by Hyperion, the publisher owned by Disney, and books she has edited/book doctored have won several awards, including the 2009 Grand Prize in the U.S. Best Beach Book Awards. She has edited numerous fiction and non-fiction books for international publishers and individuals, and her own fiction and poetry has been published in literary magazines and book anthologies. As a copywriter, Melanie has written website copy, brochures, white papers, case studies, press releases, speeches, and more.
