Expert in direct investment, strategic risk and capital raising. I'm lucky to have variety in my life. In the corporate world I provide strategic advice, risk management and related consulting services. I raise capital and strengthen management teams for investment. In short, I work with Boards and senior managers to help them solve complex issues and avoid problems. I also help to brief analysts and investors. In my other life I work with entrepreneurs to focus on the two or three key areas that will provide the best return on time and money long into the future. I help them work out what they really want, look beyond their product and of course help them capitalise their business. I advise, encourage and support them to achieve their vision. When I raise capital on behalf of an entrepreneur I often take a small interest in their business and provide advisory board services. A strategic sounding board of sorts and then use my network of specialists to find solutions and deliver results. In this role I help with the strategic direction, attempt to avoid making costly mistakes and strengthen the management team. Investors such as private equity firms, venture capital firms or angel groups appoint me in an advisory or board position in their investments. Their thinking is that having me involved significantly reduces their risks. They know that I am inquisitive and analytical by nature and will do anything possible to reduce their risks while allowing the entrepreneur a little freedom to explore the boundaries. These firms do not want a low risk or risk free investment, they are savvy enough to know that would defeat the purpose of investing in somewhat unproven opportunities. However, having someone with my skills and track record gives them a higher level of comfort and increases their chances of success. It also saves them time allowing them to get on with other business ventures rather than take a direct role themselves.
