The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust is an independent, non-profit membership organisation for schools and other organisations committed to improving education, especially secondary education. We're based in London, and more than 90% of government-funded secondary schools in England are members of our organisation. We also have members in 32 other countries around the world, who join through iNet (http://www.ssat-inet.net), our international arm. More than 5600 schools and other organisations are members. When an organisation joins, every member of staff benefits from discounts on our training programmes and resources, to access to premium content on our website and from the support of like-minded peers around the world. Our philosphy is 'by schools, for schools'. We believe that the best people to reform education are educators. That there's no problem being experienced by a teacher or school leader that hasn't been tackled successfully by another educator somewhere, so we facilitate the sharing of this knowledge through our networks. All our programmes are designed, developed or delivered by headteachers or leading practitioners: approximately 25% of our revenues are invested directly back into schools in payment for the input they provide to our work. More than 800 leaders and teachers sit on steering groups that drive and inform all our working.
