I began my paralegal career in 1983 as an independent contractor in Houston, working in Oil & Gas law, Intellectual Property, Title VII and Bankruptcy. After moving to Atlanta, I worked as a paralegal with FannieMae designated counsel, gaining exposure to bankruptcy practice throughout the US. In 2000, I took my expertise in Bankruptcy & Creditor’s Rights to Miller & Martin PLLC in Atlanta, where I remained until opening the doors of StarrParalegals, LLC in 2008. Through StarrParalegals, I now offer my comprehensive understanding of the CM/ECF system and extensive knowledge of Bankruptcy & Creditor’s Rights, commercial transactions, and UCC to attorneys and law firms nationwide. A daughter of the Great State of Texas, now living in Georgia, I am an active (and former, two-term, Director of Membership) of the Georgia Association of Paralegals, the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, the Association of Bankruptcy Judicial Assistants and the Commercial Law League of America. In 1983, I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and from one of the first ABA approved paralegal certification programs as a certified paralegal; in 2006 I became a Certified Bankruptcy Assistant ("CBA"). A leader in Atlanta's paralegal community for over 15, I have served on the faculty of, and as an Advisory Board Member for, the Institute for Paralegal Education; been a featured speaker at numerous national and state-wide seminars; been published in the National Paralegal Reporter, the e-book, Sixty-Six Tips from Your Virtual Paralegal Success Team, and quoted in the Paralegal Mentor article, "Virtual Paralegals’ Top Ten Favorites"; and, featured in the 2009 CRAVE Atlanta Guidebook. In my spare time, I am an active member of Ladies Who Launch and I am preparing to launch not one, but 3 blogs; a ‘proper’ legal/paralegal blawg , and two more, just for fun.
