Bio

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Hela, and I am a Thirfty Mother of two. I live with my children on the beautiful Jervis Bay area, on Southcoast NSW, Australia. Like many other mothers, I have found myself in an extremely squeezed financial situation. Yet, like most other mothers, I want only the best for my children. But what IS THE BEST? What does it really mean? I observed some other mothers flying from one group to another. From soccer to ballet to kindy gym to music lessons to swimming lessons and so on - one or two hobbies and hobby groups A DAY. And their children were hardly preschooler age! I simply couldn’t afford that, but I also did not believe that overwhelming my children with hobbies would be either good or necessary for them. My wallet allowed me only bargain store clothing and footwear, however I did not agree with polyester and the lack of style. Children love parties – but was there really no alternative to hiring a clown, some pet zoo animals and a jumping castle and overcrowding the table with junk food for 20 hyperactive kids on sugar high? These and other issues made me think: “How can I provide my children the very best with a small budget?” How can I promote THRIFTY and healthy habits both within the family and to preserve our environment? This is where this blog was born. My aim is to share with ideas (and hopefully receive many interesting ones in exchange) that PROVE that you CAN provide the BEST CHILDHOOD to your precious daughters and sons; you CAN have memorable fun and you CAN look as smart and fashionable as anyone else AND DO THIS ALL ON A VERY SMALL BUDGET. Yes, Thrifty Mothers is about green, fun and “thrifty” (money saving) ideas, products, recipes and much more that can assist you in providing the best childhood possible to your precious little ones on a sqeezed family budget. The aim of my blog is to inspire THAT ANYONE CAN DO IT!
