Different modes of communication are used to transmit a message from a sender to the receiver through a medium. People can use all different forms for communicating a message such as the telephone, wireless phones, email, and instant messaging. The goal of unified communications is to make it possible for people using different modes and devices to relay a message to still be able to communicate with each other. Users can access voice, e-mail, fax, instant messages and other forms of media from a single source instead of numerous different applications. IP telephony provides a way to deliver consistent, interoperable communications to employees in all workspaces, no matter where that workspace is. It converts analog voice signals into digital data packages and delivers them via internet protocol (IP). It utilizes a company's unused bandwidth to create an extremely cost-effective and efficient way to deliver communications throughout an office setting.
