Vernon Cole - King Cole Catering and Banquet Centre My interest in food preparation began when I was an 18 year old University of Manitoba student. My studies were interrupted by an illness that required surgery and a lengthy recovery at home. I took advantage of having extra time on my hands by exploring my interest in cooking. From that point on, I became hooked on experimenting with different food and recipe development. I set a new goal; acquiring the education, skills and experience necessary to become a professional chef. After completing the Commercial Cooking and Chef's Training Program at Red River College, I began a 25 year cooking career at the University of Manitoba. I enjoyed the challenges and rewards of working in the Food Services Department, which involved Residence meal preparation, faculty and wedding banquets. In 1996 I decided to start my own catering business. King Cole Catering and Banquet Centre has experienced steady growth ever since, due largely to word of mouth referrals and repeat clients. I value meeting my client's needs and providing excellent service for their special occasion.
