Bio

I am a freelance proofreader, editor and indexer. I specialise in helping students for whom English is not their first language, and translators who are working the "wrong way" - by making their English look more natural. I also create "back of the book" indexes for publishers. I also write articles for online writing sites such as Helium and Suite 101. Subjects include birds, ancient and modern history, English literature and sport. My relaxation is bowling (lawn variety), and I help to run the bowls club in my village (Barlestone in Leicestershire). I grew up in Poole, Dorset. I became a professional librarian in 1976 and had a career in academic and industrial libraries until being made redundant in 2002. I still work part-time as a librarian, at De Montfort University, Leicester. I am married to Sue, and we have a 17-year old son, David.
